Manager, Spiritual Care

Full-Time, Less than 37.5 hours/week
Owen Sound

Reporting to the Chief, Communications & Public Affairs, and accountable to the Grey Bruce Healthcare Chaplaincy Council the Manager, Spiritual Care will oversee the management, education and training, supervision, and evaluation of the multi-faith regional spiritual care program delivered at four hospital corporations – Grey Bruce Health Services South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Hanover and District Hospital, Collingwood General and Marine Hospital, and  Chapman House, the residential hospice in Owen Sound.  The Manager oversees and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the department and the regional spiritual care program, including financial and human resources, and is a member of the leadership team at Grey Bruce Health Services.

Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:

Required:

  • Certified Spiritual Care Practitioner with the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC)
  • Master’s degree in the field of theology
  • Current registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists as a Registered Psychotherapist or eligibility
  • Endorsed to chaplaincy by faith group and maintains active ties and responsibilities with that group
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical spiritual experience
  • Minimum of 2-5 years management and/or project management experience in a hospital setting, or long-term care or rehabilitation/community development agency
  • Experience in capacity building and collaborative partnership development
  • Strong leadership, counseling and teaching skills
  • Robust financial management skills and ability to write grant proposals
  • Highly developed interpersonal presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time and resources
  • Ability to collaborate with other regional healthcare partners and build relationships with senior executives
  • Ability to interact effectively with a variety of people such as physicians, senior management, colleagues and clinical/technical staff
  • Overall commitment to the quality of patient care as well as customer service
  • Possession of a valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License and personal vehicle; ability to travel to all sites
  • Knowledge of and adherence to Grey Bruce Health Services “CARE” behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence)
  • Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient

Preferred:

  • CASC Provisional Supervisor-Educator or a Certified Supervisor-Educator designation
